8 Disgusting Things Living On Your Body Right Now

3. Dust Mites: Eating You Alive

House Dust Mites
Wikipedia

Dust mites, as the name suggests, tend to live in the dust around your home. This dust, however, contains a fair amount of human skin, which is the part that these little mites are really interested in.

Usually these things will limit themselves to crawling all over your home, bed, clothes and towels and chomp away on the skin cells that you shed all over the place. However, every now and again, a particularly enterprising dust mite will decide to cut out the middle man and set up camp at the source.

If you have a condition called atopic eczema, that gives you red, flaky and itchy skin, it could be a result of a dust mite chewing on your skin cells, according to some very early research. The damage caused releases certain substances that people with the allergy react to, giving them eczema flare ups.
