7. Elon Musk's Mission To Mars

You may have been aware that, earlier this month Elon Musk unveiled a little plan that he claimed was going to get us off-world. What's more, he says he can do it within the next few years.

There are a few different Mars-oriented organisations and there is a very real possibility that a manned mission to the Red Planet could be this generation's moon landings. Musk wants to do more that simple go and plant a flag, or even establish a base, and plans to found a city within many of our lifetimes.

It sounds crazy futuristic, but Musk has put a timeline of 40 - 100 years on his scheme to get a million people living on Mars. Could you (or more likely your children) be future Martian colonists?
