8 Harry Potter Characters JK Rowling Really Didn't Have To Kill

7. Colin Creevey

This guy was the original Harry Potter superfan. Arriving at Hogwarts with his camera the year that Salazar Slytherin€™s heir managed to reopen the Chambers of Secrets, Muggle-born Colin was sorted into Gryfindor and wasted no time getting to work on his collection of Harry snaps. He intended to send his photos back to his milkman father, though unfortunately for Mr Creevey, young Colin€™s film melted into mush when he went all National Geographic on Slytherin€™s Basilisk. The lens of his rusty old Muggle camera saved his life on that day (big thumbs up from Arthur Weasley) but he wouldn€™t be so jammy come the Battle of Hogwarts. Having joined student militia Dumbledore€™s Army in order to learn the skills necessary to survive such an event, Colin was always going to stick around for the final showdown with Voldemort. Professor McGonagall did her best stay the heartache when she forbid any underage wizards from participating in the battle, though Colin, scamp that he was, found his way into the castle grounds where he met his untimely end. €œHarry glanced down, and felt another dull blow to his stomach: Colin Creevey, though underage, must have sneaked back just as Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle had done. He was tiny in death.€ I like to think that he went out with his camera lens blazing, documenting the war like the fearless photographer that he was.
