8 Harry Potter Edits JK Rowling Made From Earlier Book Drafts

2. Ron Was Supposed To Die Too What is it with Rowling and nearly killing off Weasleys? In an interview with Daniel Radcliffe for the Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 DVD, Rowling talked about Ron's potential fate. "Funnily enough, I planned from the start that none of them would die. Then midway through, which I think is a reflection of the fact that I wasn't in a very happy place, I started thinking I might polish one of them off. Out of sheer spite.€If this sounds surprising, it perhaps shouldn't €“ since then, Rowling has talked at length about how she doesn't particularly believe in the relationship between Hermione and Ron, stating she doesn't think the relationship would be functional. With this in mind, killing off Ron would likely have drastically altered the landscape of the romantic relationships at the very end of the series. Indeed, Rowling has even stated Hermione probably would have been better off hooking up with Harry.
