8 Horribly Depressing Scientific Discoveries
3. Dinosaurs, er, Honked
So, when scientists discovered the fossilised voice box of an early, prehistoric bird, it was the perfect opportunity to finally discover the sounds of the dinosaur age.
Did they emit terrifying roars? Threatening growls? Did they sing beautiful arias?
No. They honked. Like geese.
Or, at least, this one did. The fossil was much more similar to a modern reptile's voice box than that a bird, which indicates that it is likely that the dinosaurs that came before it had one too and would have been incapable of producing those twitters and clicks depicted in the likes of Jurassic Park.
Between that, and the discovery that they were covered in a ridiculous feathery fluff, scientists seem hellbent on ruining dinosaurs for us all.
