1. Project X
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc0CB6URrV0 The inspiration for Project X rekindled the debate of fame versus infamy and saw the teenager responsible compared to Ned Kelly and Bono. He's neither of these things, but he is, of course, Corey Worthington. At the time he was a 16 year old boy who constantly wore yellow rimmed sunglasses and an unzipped jacket with no t-shirt. The party was attended by 500 people, now pretty small compared to what has happened since, who saw the events on Facebook and Myspace back when the latter was a thing. Thus caused $20,000 damage to his house and surrounding locations. This was done mainly through a some good old fashion violence, with arguments and general destruction breaking furniture, fences and families. Well, not families...yet. However what came next was unexpected. Job offers from London, Atlanta and Georgia. Just by taking part in interviews on major Australian news broadcasts, Worthington made thousands of dollars. Some say he was able to make up to $60,000 in the two weeks after the infamous party. This is the person who started the whole outrage over social media and it's privacy settings, and his out-of-control get-together received worldwide coverage. This is the reason your parents don't trust the internet. This is their worst fears realised. Yet this is the 21st century, and though Worthington has since faded from the public eye with parties such as his become more common, the trend he kicked off doesn't seem to be going away any time soon. As for Worthington himself, his reputation as a bad boy was dissolved after a stint on the Australian Big Brother 2008, in which he received worse reviews than the already poorly reviewed season. But still, the kid started something, even if it's probably not to be condoned.
