8 Huge Predictions For Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

3. Harry Will Be Drawn Back Into The Past... By Dudley Dursley's Death

This may seem unlikely, but it'd make a huge amount of sense, and would be an effective way of forcing Harry to face his past. Based on the epilogue and information provided by Rowling, we know that Harry and Dudley keep minimal contact after the events of the series, more bound by a sense of duty based on their understated reconciliation than any form of actual connection. It's clear that Dudley's character arc is essentially over, as he lives a quiet, regular life following everything that happens. If Dudley were to to pass away, it would force Harry to come into contact with his old family again, as the same sense of duty that kept the two in contact would force Harry into attending his funeral. There, it would be practically impossible for him not to run into Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia, or see them from afar. Even if they had already passed away a funeral would be a great way to trigger memories of the past which Harry finds increasingly difficult to shake. It's easy to imagine scenes of Harry becoming distracted and unfocused during work, owing to these persistent recollections.
