2. There Are Several Beer-Based Swimming Pools In Austria
For those hardcore beer fanatics who would love nothing more than to swim in a pool full of beer, your prayers have been answered. The Starkenberger Brewery, which is located in Austria, has their very own beer pools.
The facility features seven 13-foot (or about 4 meter) pools that each contain roughly 42,000 pints of beer each. According to Atlas Obscura,"The beer is rich in vitamins and calcium, and it is said that sitting in it is good for the skin and helps cure open wounds and psoriasis." Starkenberger Brewery is built inside a 700-year-old castle and introduced the pools back in 2005.
The beer used for swimming is said to be quite warm, and visitors are advised not to drink from the pool. Of course, visitors are welcome to order a cold beverage to enjoy while bathing.
It's difficult to tell whether these pools are a clever novelty experience or simply a massive waste of perfectly good beer.
