8 Must-Listen Comedy Podcasts

7. Hollywood Babble-On

It's no secret that Kevin Smith has a podcasting network, and that he's so in love with the medium that he's even talked about giving up film. If you were a fan in the nineties, but you've avoided anything the man has done since Jersey Girl, you owe it to yourself to rediscover Smith's unique brand of humor, through his least-filtered choice of medium. And you might as well start with the best show on his Smodcast network. Hollywood Babble-On doesn't seem like much at first. In fact, after a couple of episodes, it begins to feel like schtick. Soon, though, you find yourself looking forward to segments such as "Tinseltown Stiffs" and "Movies That Will Suck," as well as co-host Ralph Garman's uncanny impressions of Harrison Ford, Sylvester Stallone, and, oddly enough, Ed Wynn. The show is unashamedly a celebrity gossip fest, reveling in the misadventures of the overhyped and untalented. Unlike other showbiz shows, though, this one gives the Justin Bieber segment its own theme song. The show is perhaps the most addictive podcast out there. If you're still afraid to admit that you watch E! Entertainment, you might as well let your regular indulgence of pop culture come from two men who think it's stupid, too.

Check out "The Champ" by my alter ego, Greg Forrest, in Heater #12, at http://fictionmagazines.com. I used to do a mean Glenn Danzig impression. Now I just hang around and co-host The Workprint podcast at http://southboundcinema.com/.
