8 Must-Listen Comedy Podcasts

6. The Todd Glass Show

Eddie Pepitone On The Todd Glass Show Podcast Hqdefault

Todd Glass loves to run a joke into the ground. It's his calling card, and no one does it better. Most stand-ups treat their podcasts like a comedy workshop. Much like their Twitter stream, they use the medium as a means of working out material. Listening to Todd Glass do this is akin to reading Einstein's rough notes on the theory of relativity, or seeing uncut footage from an Orson Welles movie. On this show, you get Todd Glass in the raw, a supernova of manic, stream-of-consciousness energy so different from his stand-up persona, it could possibly change his act. The hip artifice of alternative comedy is still there, but accompanied by genuine emotion and insight (if that's like, your thing, man) that would seem out of place in a stand-up act. Above all, Glass and his guests always sound like they're having a blast, which is more fun to listen to than you'd think. If you like your comedy powerful, and blatantly silly, this show is a must-listen.

Check out "The Champ" by my alter ego, Greg Forrest, in Heater #12, at http://fictionmagazines.com. I used to do a mean Glenn Danzig impression. Now I just hang around and co-host The Workprint podcast at http://southboundcinema.com/.
