6. Type It, Tap It
Key to the experiences noted above are the TouchCover 2 or TypeCover 2. Of course, you can use a BlueTooth or USB keyboard but having a cover that is also a keyboard with trackpad makes the Surface feel more like a laptop. As well as being productive it stops you losing half the screen when you want to comment on a website. It can be folded under to provide a more stable surface or removed whenever you don't need it. It also makes websites more usable. There are lots of sites out there that still don't play well with a touchscreen. The keyboard on the Surface cover means you wave goodbye to the frustration of tapping at a menu only to see it disappear. Being able to accurately select a menu, text or even just the simple act of using the shift key to multi select emails for deletion makes the Surface just that little bit more usable, that little bit less frustrating than other tablets. That's not to say it is without fault, no device is, but as a tablet it provides a better and more satisfying experience than one you have to hold, cover up or stab at in frustration. RDP programs, document creation tools, note taking apps, covers and keyboards are available for other tablets, but it's the unified design language and integration of Microsoft that makes the Surface 2 stand out.
