8 Reasons Why Your Next Tablet Should Be A Microsoft Surface

3. Oh Snap

Snap Multi-tasking on almost any other tablet is nothing short of a joke. Yes, Android has widgets and Samsung's Note devices are admittedly an exception but for most the idea of doing 2 things at once is a distant dream. App snap on the Surface 2 is just an absolute joy. It is genuinely fun to watch the app slip off to the side and resize itself. Then you swipe in the other app you want and suddenly you're writing your school work on the desktop while checking out the notes you took in OneNote in the other pane. On a tablet! Some apps like Twitter and Mail are suitable for an even smaller portion of the screen which means in the above scenario you can also have your Twitter feed on the screen. Having 3 apps side by side and being able to control the size and position is incredibly useful and without doubt the Surface's party trick. When you have 2 apps open and you want to get a new one going you can either swipe another in from the side and choose which one to replace, or hit Start and select the app you want. When you select the app you see it hover in between the two open panes and see-saw suggestively from side to side waiting on you to select which app to get rid of. Done with an app? Either swipe the dividing line off the screen if you want to keep the other app running or swipe down from the top of the screen to the bottom on the one you're done with. The remaining app will resize automatically to fill the screen. If you had 3 apps open you need to manually select which to fill the space with. Doing all of this on a touchscreen ARM tablet running a mobile OS is just fantastic.
