8 Reasons To Be Excited About The Future Of Universal Orlando Resort
3. Super Nintendo World
In 2015 news broke that Nintendo and Universal Parks and Resorts would be joining forces to create an interactive world of Mario and his pals.
So far there has been little to no details released for what we can expect at the Orlando parks, but we do know a little more about what is coming to Japan's Super Nintendo World.
At the groundbreaking ceremony in Japan, Universal officials announced that there would be a Mario Cart ride. As of yet we don't know exactly what the Mario Cart Experience will be just that it is "the most immersive and cutting edge technological attraction" that Universal have ever created. The new land will open at the Osaka park in 2020.
It's likely that Orlando will also get a Mario Cart type attraction, given that it is to be the centrepiece in Japan. The other rumoured attraction is a Donkey Kong mine cart themed attraction. Patents filed for a "boom coaster" which would allow a ride car to appear to jump from one track to another, sound suspiciously like they could be for Donkey Kong.
We don't as of yet have confirmation as to where the new land will be located. Speculation is that Kidzone could be cleared to make way for Nintendo, but ET Adventure will be spared the bulldozer.
Guests in Japan can expect to be transported through a green warp pipe into the Mushroom Kingdom. Peach's Castle and Bowser's Castle will also feature in this incredibly immersive land.
No word as to when we can expect a Nintendo World at Orlando, Universal has confirmed that the opening of the new areas will be spread out over several years.
Given that Japan is the home of Nintendo, I would guess that we can expect to see Orlando's version opening after Tokyo's.
