8 Times Things Got Seriously Awkward On The Joe Rogan Experience

2. Steven Crowder Isn't Sold On The Medicinal Properties Of Weed

The story of Rogan's dispute with conservative commentator and comedian Steven Crowder on episode 917 of the JRE is well-known to fans of the podcast as one of the most infamous debates in the history of the show.

Already nearly two hours into the episode, the issue begins after Joe asks Crowder what topics he doesn't want to talk about, then when Crowder mentions the marijuana issue, Rogan instantly becomes confrontational, and the conversation takes a turn for the worse.

To his credit, Crowder attempts to change the subject, but his comments had clearly struck a nerve with an inebriated Rogan, who was determined to ensure that he came to the defence of his beloved medicine.

What makes the whole thing so awkward is that there appears to be a difference in how the pair are perceiving the hostility of the encounter. Joe is clearly being combative, but only in a busting your friend's balls kind of way, which Crowder clearly doesn't enjoy.

Joe later apologised for his actions in a lengthy Instagram post, and Crowder appeared again on the show without incident in 2018.
