8 Times Things Got Seriously Awkward On The Joe Rogan Experience
3. Joe And Jamie Kilstein Discuss Rape Culture
As a fellow comedian and BJJ enthusiast, one would assume that Joe would have no problem having a fruitful back and forth with Jamie Kilstein when he made his second appearance on the show back in 2012. For the first 90 minutes, this was largely the case with the pair going over a series of familiar JRE topics and Kilstein's work.
However, the podcast came in the midst of a debate surrounding former Tosh.0 host Daniel Tosh making a rape joke at a heckler who criticised his act. When this comes up in the episode, sh*t goes south pretty quickly.
Joe and Jamie go on to engage in a discussion about Tosh's comment and the wider implications of rape culture, finding very little to agree on in an episode that devolves into pure awkwardness with Rogan as frustrated as he's ever been on the podcast.
To make all of this even weirder, Kilstein later departed the progressive podcast Citizen Radio in 2017 amidst accusations that he had displayed predatory and emotionally abusive behaviour towards some of his female coworkers.
