8 Ways JK Rowling Could Continue The Harry Potter Series

6. Harry Potter And The History Of Hogwarts

If a trip to the Wizarding World's future is not to your taste, then surely turning back the Time Turner a couple thousand years would be a better option. While Hermione waxed lyrical about "Hogwarts, a History" enough times throughout the series, we saw only snippets of the actual history of Hogwarts and its founders, mostly through Hermione's enthusiasm, the whole Chamber of Secrets debacle, and the Sorting Hat's songs. Which is a crying shame really, because by Merlin's beard does it sound fascinating. A prequel about the founding four of Hogwarts School; Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin, would not only be a gift from God for hardcore Potter nerds but an engaging story for anyone with only a passing interest in the series. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the Sorting Hat, which sorts Hogwarts students into the four houses, spins a tale of the four founders and gives us an interesting look into the history of everyone's favourite wizarding school, telling of the founders turning on and seeking power over each other when they were once the best of friends. Just imagine it: set against the rolling landscapes of medieval wizarding Britain, a thrilling tale of lost friendship and breathtaking drama as the founders struggle with one another to keep their dream of Hogwarts School alive. Throw in a little romance; come on, a tragic, short-lived tryst between Gryffindor and Slytherin would be perfect and you know it, and it could be the next Emmy-winning television drama (please).
