9 Acts Of Kindness From Total Strangers That Will Melt Your Heart

6. The Power Of The Public

It's a relief to know that strangers have the ability to move mountains for people who are in need. Well, maybe not mountains, but a 10,000 tonne train is close enough. One man was taking his usual commute to work in Perth, Australia, where he became trapped between the train and the platform. The man was boarding the train during rush hour and at 8.50am, his leg slid in the gap between the train and the platform. The poor man was stuck just before the train was supposed to leave the station, but fellow passengers quickly alerted staff and the driver to ensure that the train would not move. Taking matters into their own hands, fellow commuters decided to physically move the train in order to get the man out. Hundreds of passengers worked together in order to push the train off the man, freeing him from a potential serious injury. The power of the public meant that the man was free before the emergency services arrived and he wasn't injured. Incredible.
"Everyone sort of pitched in. It was people power that saved someone from possibly quite serious injury." - David Hynes.
