Technology is not just about adding to the sexual experience, it could also have a hand in taking some parts of it away. Of course, advances in contraceptives have already brought us a long way along the "pleasure avenue" (if that's what you like to call it, oi oi), by protecting us from the danger of accidental reproduction, but these are mere preventative measures compared to what some experts are predicting. Advances in IVF technology could well render the whole sex-and-babies link a thing of the past.

It would probably start as a type of "insurance", with men and women freezing their eggs and sperm to allow themselves freedom from that ticking biological clock, but some think it could eventually progress to the point of freezing those pesky gametes as a matter of course, followed by a routine sterilisation. This could potentially do away with issues of unwanted pregnancy and abortion, and could even result in healthier babies, as people freeze their healthy younger eggs for later use.
