9 Extraordinary Superpowers That Literally Everybody Has
9. You Have Super-Vision
Look up into a dark night sky and you might be able to see a little smudge of light in the constellation of Andromeda. Congratulations, you've found M31, or the Andromeda galaxy. The photons that are hitting your eyes from that smudge of light set off 2.5 million years ago, meaning that it is, you guessed it, 2.5 million lightyears away. Despite the fact that the small letters might look a bit fuzzy at the opticians, that's a pretty long way to be able to see. In fact, it's the furthest anyone can see with the naked eye. To put things in a little perspective, when those photons began their long journey to your retinas, Homo habilis, an early species of human, was just figuring out how to use tools. Homo sapiens (that's you) wouldn't arrive on the scene for another couple million years. If you were to fly towards that smudge and visit Andromeda in a light-speed ship, by the time you got back, the human race would have had time to colonise the entire Milky Way. So, the next time you reach for your reading glasses, comfort yourself in the knowledge that your eyesight is actually good enough to see into deep space.
