9 Extraordinary Superpowers That Literally Everybody Has
5. You Have A Force Field
Right, so you're made up of atoms and so is everything else (but you knew that). The thing is, that atoms are mostly made up of, well, nothing. Your average hydrogen atom is something like 99.9999999999996% empty space, so what's to stop you just sliding spookily through a wall next time you try to lean nonchalantly against it? To get over the problem of empty space, all atoms have an electromagnetic fields that repel each other. This means that you never actually touch anything, there is always a tiny gap between you and another object caused by this field. When you lean on a table, or sit on a chair, the pressure you feel that stops your hand or butt passing straight through it is the electromagnetic repulsion. This force is incredibly strong, even stronger that the gravitational force generated by the entire planet, demonstrated by the fact that you haven't been pulled through to the centre of the Earth, but stay resolutely stood on the surface.
