9 Fascinating Disney Attractions You Didn't Know Were Almost Built

3. Muppet Studios

A whole land dedicated to The Muppets – how could it not be awesome? Back in the late eighties/early nineties Disney's Hollywood Studios was set to incorporate everyone's favourite colourful little puppets in a much bigger way.

Muppet Studios was to feature several rides, including Muppet*Vision 3D and The Great Muppet Movie Ride, which was to parody Hollywood Studios own Great Movie Ride. The Great Muppet variant was to recreate famous, iconic movie scenes like Frankenstein and Peter Pan using Muppets. These were also two restaurants planned, The Swedish Chef's Video Cooking School and The Great Gonzo's Pandemonium Pizza Parlour.

Negotiations fell apart, however, after the death of Muppets creator Jim Henson. Only Muppet*Vision 3D was completed before this happened, and it still remains at Hollywood Studios to this day in its own mini Muppets area. With the resurgence in popularity of The Muppets, however, who knows what could happen?
