9 Huge Mistakes In The Harry Potter Books You Didn't Even Notice
4. Dumbledore Fudges Key Evidence (That He Shouldn't Even Have)
Ah, who can forget poor Colin Creevey? He's basically the equivalent of a canonical Harry Potter fan boy, practically stalking Harry in order to take various photographs of him around the school. Yes, Colin's defining characteristic is the camera which hangs from his neck and is used incredibly frequently. Unfortunately for poor Colin, however, he's petrified by the basilisk that stalks the Chamber of Secrets.
While at the hospital wing in Hogwarts, Professor McGonagall wonders if Colin mightn't have snapped a picture of the person who attacked him (at this point it was still a mystery). Mistakenly, Dumbledore opens the back of the camera without rewinding the film. In reality, this should have instantly rendered the film useless, as the light breaching the undeveloped film would have destroyed it.
This opens the scene up for another mistake, however. It's made clear that Colin's camera is Muggle technology, yet in the Goblet Of Fire Hermione quotes the book Hogwarts: A History which states that Muggle technology doesn't work at Hogwarts. So not only should Dumbledore have not been able to look at Colin's photos because he wrecked them...there shouldn't have been any photos in the first place.
