9 Science Videos That Will Make You Question Everything
5. The Imposter Syndrome - The School Of LIfe
Speaking of not being able to get out of your own head, have you ever felt like a fraud or an imposter when compared to everyone else?
Imposter Syndrome is a perceived inadequacy, thought to affect as much as 70% of the population worldwide. It can lead to self-doubt and anxiety but is, surprisingly, more prevalent in high achievers. The thing is that it is simply a trick of the self-centred conciousness, similar to what we discussed in the last video.
The feeling that everybody else has their sh*t together apart from you, which plagues pretty much everyone at some point or another, comes from our inability to imagine others as complexly as we would need to in order to fully realise that they are just as weird and worried as we are. It's essentially caused by constantly watching everybody else's showreel, whilst you're stuck mulling over your own bloopers.
