World Championship Wrestling Action Figures

WCW figuresWhat?: WCW was the number 2 wrestling company in the United States until it went bust a few years back because it just couldn't compete with the WWE. Notable performers included Ric Flair, Sting and Lex Luger. Hulk Hogan joined in later years but we're looking at the early years in particular. The figures ran from 1990-1991 and included 2 rings, a UK exclusives line for all the British fans who had zero access to their programming and four 14 inch fully poseable figures. Who?: The WCW action figures line was made by a company called Galoob who are perhaps better known for their Spice Girls toy line. We're not sure which was worse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLCaWbRlBmo I love how the kid calls a Gorilla Press Slam a "body slam" in the commercial. Sigh. Amusement Factor: The WWF figures were far from perfect but at least they could be slightly manipulated to best recreate an actual wrestling match. On the other hand WCW's solid figures were the complete opposite and were often stuck in ridiculous poses with zero animation. For example, one particular Sting figure had him in a classic double biceps pose. What use was he to a kid recreating their favourite matches? Awesome Rating: What ya gunna do when you're action figures are stiffer than than your actual superstars, brother?
