26. The Talisman

Stephen King in It: Chapter Two
Scribner

The first book written between King and Straub, The Talisman finds a much younger Jack on a series of dangerous misadventures as he works to cure his mother's cancer. Moving between parallel universes and offering up some solid slices of horror with its Dark Tower connections, the novel makes for a striking and often moving read about a kid taking on the darkness.

There are some themes within the story that haven't aged too well, but even with them, The Talisman is one of King's undeniable classics.
