Every Stephen King Novel Ranked Worst To Best

20. Gerald's Game

Stephen King in It: Chapter Two
Viking

One of Stephen King's least horror-driven tales, Gerald's Game still manages to be one of his more uncomfortable and claustrophobically horrible novels. After a sex game gone wrong, Jessie finds herself handcuffed to the bed whilst her husband lies dead before her. As time passes, unable to escape, she finds herself confronting her past, her fears and her future.

It's a tightly-written psychological thriller, dealing with everything from love to death, fear to violence, and does so with a brilliant grasp of character and helplessness. It's not an easy read, but it's worth every cringe, gasp and inaudible scream.
