Every Stephen King Novel Ranked Worst To Best

13. 'Salem's Lot

Stephen King in It: Chapter Two
Doubleday

King is the master of creating towns full to the brim with colourful and well-drawn characters, and 'Salem's Lot, only his second published novel, is no exception to that rule. Only this time, the big bads lurking in the night are not unseen spectres or even the other locals, but vampires that feel at once fresh and completely in-line with the vampire stories that came before.

Along with the great characters and monstrous bloodsuckers, 'Salem's Lot also comes with enough twists and violence to make you stay up nights at a time, too afraid to close your eyes. It may have been published in 1975, but 'Salem's Lot is still just as refreshing and horrific as ever.
