The House:

A horror double feature starring two of Blumhouse's latest releases. This house takes you right into Freaky and The Black Phone.

Freaky sees you chased by serial killer "The Butcher" who has traded bodies with high school student Millie Kessler. Within The Black Phone you need to be on the look out for "The Grabber" whose most famous trick is making people disappear.

Can you beat "The Grabber" with the whispered hints or will he make you disappear?

The Verdict:

This truly is a house of two halves. Unlike previous Horrors of Blumhouse duel property houses, this maze were clearly distinguishable with a full break. This really separated the two properties and gave them space to have their own voices. It also meant that it's hard to judge them as one, so let's start with Freaky.

Freaky was a relatively solid house. It did a good job with the sets but seemed to be missing something. Perhaps it was the curse of the double-bill house where there wasn't as much time to get into the story. The main parts of story were there but nothing much more.

There was some good deaths in the maze and the "The Butcher" was around in both his original form and as Millie Kessler. It was a short house so if you didn't get a couple of scares you could miss out on a lot. We got a couple of jumps but not as many as we would like.

The second half of The Horrors of Blumhouse was The Black Phone and we managed to get a great run through of it. "The Grabber" seemed to be everywhere and there were plenty of scares.

This part of the house was the one we had the most concerns about. With mostly being set in one room we felt this could limit the maze. It certainly didn't.

The set was good and didn't feel too repetitive. We saw his van and his big black balloons gave the perfect cover for "The Grabber". One of the biggest scares we got of the night was by one of the ghostly victims, who appeared at the ring of the black phone on the wall.

As with Freaky, it would have been great to see exactly where this house would have fallen in our rankings if it had been given a full house. This small section would have easily finished higher if it had been its own house.

Freaky on its own would probably have finished lower but our experience of The Black Phone was so good, it deserved to finish higher.
