Game Of Thrones: Ranking George R.R. Martin's Westeros Books - Worst To Best

1. A Game Of Thrones

This is where it all kicked off. Way back in 1996, readers were introduced to the world of Westeros, Winterfell, the Starks and everything else that we've come to know and love. A Game Of Thrones brilliantly laid the bedrock for the entire series, showing off the potential of the multi-perspective narrative and setting up various arcs, strands and mysteries. In the context of the whole series it may not be the most exciting or shocking entry, but it contains a certain indelible magic. Who can forget the first time they read A Game Of Thrones (especially if you read it before the HBO adaptation), the combination of beautiful writing and intriguing story, the excitement as you got invested in a brand new, fascinating fantasy world. Fans have come so far since the series' first entry, but it's through that first entry that everything else is possible. Agree with this ranking, or would you have a different order?
