iPhone 6 - 4 Rumoured Features That Would Be Terrible (And 1 That Actually Sounds Good)

2. Finger Scan Lock Screen

This is where technology is heading, genetic verification is the best for security, which is why in all the movies we see, the high tech lab, or the top secret military facility has at least one form of security that requires a set genetic code, such as a retina, or finger print scanner, you know, the bases that are broken in to every single time. All jokes aside, rumours of Apple having finger print scan technology have been set off after they purchased AuthenTec finger print sensing IC production, with the intention of using it in their next phone. The use of the fingerprint scanner on the iPhone would enhance the iPhones security, which has been very lacking with the lock screen and passcode no match for the pin pattern available to Android users. However, this is a terrible idea as finger print scanning technology is still in its infantile stages, and while the best way to explore these avenues of technology is through implementation, experimentation and field work, the iPhone isn't the place to start testing these things, at least not yet. While the idea is novel and cool, that won't last, and it will go away quicker if the security makes it harder to use your phone. Seeing as it isn't perfected, the annoyance of having to wait isn't worth the extra bonus of security if the scanner fails to recognise your finger, or has the potential to mis-scan the finger or read it incorrectly. Nothing released to date has suggested that the fingerprint scanner has reached a position where it is beneficial elsewhere, apart from high level military bases, which can afford top of the range technology. However, the idea of even getting top of the range fingerprint scanning security would be amazing it would well and truly push the, already high priced, iPhone out of the market.
