iPod: 7 Reasons Why Apple’s Walkman Knock-Off Is Doomed To Fail

3. The Recharging

iPod Firewire These things don't have batteries. No. You have to hook them to your computer (Mac) via Firewire to charge them up, then they last for, well, as long as they last I suppose. So imagine you're out and about, listening to your new ipod when suddenly the power goes. Firstly, I don't think, from my admittedly limited research on these things so far, that you get any warning. The thing just stops. Now, with my Walkman, I can hear the music getting slower as the batteries run down, but with this there's no such indication. Also, when it does run out of power, what are you supposed to do? You can't change the batteries: there are none. So you have to stick it back in your pocket, wait till you get home, hook it up to your computer and by all indications it doesn't just charge up right away. Like your mobile phone, it takes time. So you have to leave it there, charging merrily away, while you wait for god knows how long.
