At the age of 44, John F. Kennedy became the youngest president ever elected when he succeeded from Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1961, beating Richard Nixon in an electoral landslide. Sadly, he also made history by becoming the youngest-serving president to die while in office in November 1963, dying at the age of 46. JFK also earned another macabre record by becoming the only U.S. president whose grandmother lived longer than he did. Mary Josephine Hannon Fitzgerald lived until 1964, aged 98.
