5. Hashtags...
The wonderful world of hastags have helped a lot of people trying to drive traffic to their websites, blogs, and profiles, with a very simple concept that allows others to specifically search for certain topics; based simply on words or phrases that are written with a pow sign on them "#". The trick to this is simply writing something that identifies what you are trying to hone in on that connects what you are saying to something you want large groups of people to read. Twitter has a listing of popular "at-that-moment" hashtags on your feed list. There are also a variety of websites that do research on popular tags you can use for any number of purposes. Tags have become so popular that it's not specific to Twitter anymore. You can type a tag and usually hit your down arrow key on Facebook (as well) and scroll through similar tags (if a number of options did not attempt to auto-complete for you). This can help you network easily if you are using specific types of tags that have become prolific. The beauty of hashtags - you can pretty much create any you choose at will...the catch of course is, are you using a tag that is universally recognized or used by others? Example. I post an article about a comic book and then tweet about said article, say a comic book movie like Thor, I can write a tag like any of these: #comic, #comics, #comicbook, #comicbooks, #comicbookmovie, #cb, #cbm, #thor, #Thorthedarkworld, #ttdw, #marvel, or #mcu ...You get the point. Then, depending on the article I would choose the simplest tags like #comics, because #comic can also be used for comedians. I'd also add #Thor and possibly a third #marvel or #mcu My tweet would look something like this; "Check out my review on upcoming #Thor The Dark World @whatculture #comics #marvel "Insert Link" My Tweet would go through and be pushed to all associated and connected sites with these tags, and regardless of those posts, anyone on a few sites can simply type in #comics and find my post and click through to read the article...with any luck, post comments, which I can interact with and maybe gain another reader of my material.
