This Is What Extraterrestrial Life Would Look Like

1. Primordial Soup

Let's be honest with ourselves here, as much as we'd love to find a whizzy alien race with star-mining technology and awesome spaceships, but if we do ever find them, the chances are that they'll be in the form of microbial sludge. Soz. Hey, we've all got to start somewhere. We were all microbial sludge at one point (go into any city centre on a Friday night and you might conclude that we haven't moved on much) and now we have arms and legs and faces and spaceships. Just give it a few billion years and we could finally get our civilised alien race, even if we did have to wait a bit for them to grow up. It could be that one day in the far distant future, those little microbes will have grown up into walking, talking life forms and will look out to the stars and see one of our super-advanced generation ships fly past.
