3. 30th Anniversary of PAC-MAN: May 21st 2010
We couldnt write a list of the greatest interactive doodles without including the one which started it all off. Back in 2010 the Pac-Man doodle became the first ever interactive doodle and paved the way for all the other doodles on this list. Created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the game the doodle was the classic Pac-Man gameplay we all know, but the maze spelled out Google, which lead to some interesting challenges. The doodle featured all the same sounds and art from the original game and apparently even kept some of the games bugs. Playing the doodle was as simple and moving Pac-Man with the arrow keys and trying to clear the maze of dots. There was even a two player mode where Ms. Pac-Man would join in to double the fun. The Pac-Man doodle is perhaps the most well-known doodle on the list as the world went mad for it when it went live. Having never seen an interactive Google doodle before people would spend hours playing the game, I know I certainly did. Not only was it the first but it was also one of the best and has stood the test of time well. Only a few doodles have eclipsed it in terms of entertainment value and technological merit, but even so the Pac-Man doodle was the first and perhaps most important.
