In July 2000, Bryan Singer's groundbreaking superhero movie hit cinemas, wowing audiences and critics alike with its strong production values and uncommonly intelligent, character-driven approach to comic book thrills.
Though very much an ensemble film driven forward by its exceptional cast, X-Men was of course the movie that made Hugh Jackman's career, catapulting him into the A-list nearly overnight, and giving him a signature role which he continued to play for almost two decades thereafter.
While the original X-Men might seem rather quaint by the standards of modern superhero movies, it's still a terrifically entertaining and well-crafted blockbuster that's aged extremely well - bar a few dodgy CGI moments.
