1. Alfredo Di Stefano And Ferenc Puskas (Real Madrid 1958-64)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v8fI6not7A Combined Appearances - 433 Goals - 360 Before the days of Cristiano Ronaldo, a man who scores an impressive amount for two players, Real Madrid was home to the finest partnership of all, with Alfredo Di Stefano and the great Hungarian Ferenc Puskas lighting up the 1950s and 1960s for one of Spain's grandest old clubs. Real Madrid won five consecutive European cups between 1956 and 1960, a record that will take some beating. Di Stefano scored an astonishing 165 goals over these five seasons. Puskas joined in 1958, ensuring the goal flow at the Santiago Bernabeu reached epic proportions. In one match in 1959, Real defeated UD Las Palmas 10-1, with both Puskas and Di Stefano scoring hat-tricks. Puskas, having joined Real Madrid at the age of 31, had of course already confirmed his status as one of the world's greatest players by the time he arrived. His time in Spain was reminicisent of one of a magnificent victory lap, with 156 goals from 180 La Liga appearances, and 35 goals from 39 European Cup appearances. While Puskas was doing all that, Di Stefano ended his own Real career with 307 goals in 396 appearances. If this seems like an overwhelming amount of numbers to take in, one can only imagine what it must have been like to watch them play together. Real Madrid defenders certainly needn't have been the finest to win medals, but the forward line was something special, one that even the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale can still aspire to match.
