10 Biggest NFL Controversies

10. The Immaculate Reception/Deception

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMksKd9Jjho Though the reception has gone down as 'immaculate', Franco Harris' TD was anything but a clear cut perfect play that has since gone down as the greatest in NFL history. The play came during the 1972 AFC Divisional playoff game between the Raiders and the Steelers, with the latter side trailing with less than 30 seconds to go. The Steelers' QB Terry Bradshaw lined up with a 4th-and-10 on his own 40-yard line. He threw the ball downfield, with the Steelers' John Fuqua and Raiders' Jack Tatum colliding, and the ball bounced to Harris to dramatically run for the win. The controversy lies with who touched the ball, Fuqua or Tatum, and had it touched Fuqua without hitting Tatum, the decision would be incorrect, although it remains uncertain. Both sets of fans vociferously defend their team, forging a bitter rivalry that lingers today.
