10 Biggest Underachievers In Fantasy Premier League 2019/20

1. Kepa Arrizabalaga - Chelsea

Kepa Arrizabalaga is the world’s most expensive goalkeeper. Just let that sink in for a second.

The Spaniard was the number one choice goalkeeper for a Chelsea side expected to challenge for European qualification. Priced at £5.5m, he seemed a perfectly viable way into the Chelsea backline at the start of the Fantasy Football season.

Unfortunately the 2019/20 season was basically an unmitigated disaster for the 25-year-old.

He made some high-profile blunders, and with a loss of confidence came a dramatic loss of form.

Kepa’s terrible record-breaking season saw him with the worst Premier league save percentage of any goalkeeper at just 56.5%. And his poor form was translated in FPL too.

He managed just 90 points, which made him the worst possible first choice keeper to own this season apart from Łukasz Fabiański who was injured for a chunk of the campaign.

By the end of the season Kepa lost his place to veteran backup goalie Willy Caballero.

In Fantasy Football Kepa was even outscored by the likes of Tim Krul, who was playing between the sticks for bottom of the table Norwich.

Burnley’s Nick Pope managed 120 saves and 23 FPL bonus points this season. By contrast Kepa had 55 saves and not a single bonus point.

Can Kepa turn around his career at Chelsea, as well as in Fantasy Football? Only time will tell.
