Remember when we were all going loopy after Jesse Lingard scored that absolute worldy for England against Panama in the 2018 World Cup?

It doesn’t seem that long ago, and yet Jesse Lingard’s stock has fallen quite considerably in the time since.

He managed an excellent 128 Fantasy Football points in 2017/18, with eight goals and six assists, which was great for a cheap midfielder.

His 2018/19 season was less impressive, with just four goals and three assists, but this season just gone was a new low entirely.

The 27-year-old - yes, you did read that right - didn’t come particularly cheap in FPL at £6.5m.

An attacking midfielder at Manchester United, even if he was used as a rotation option, it still seemed likely he would pick up quite a few FPL points.

But Lingard went 37 games - over a calendar year - without managing a single goal or assist in the Premier League for Manchester United, and was overtaken by the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood in the pecking order for the Red Devils.

Lingard did manage a goal – scoring in the 108th minute of the final game of the season.

He looks unlikely to be at Manchester United next season, and even less likely to be in our upcoming Fantasy Football squads.
