Football is a game full of passion and raw emotion. It's not just those in the stands who sometimes let their feelings boil over. On occasion, the players that so many look up to can lose their cool and let the red mist descend and what with so many cameras trained on them, it's no wonder those explosive episodes tend to draw so much attention.

The modern, supposedly contact sport has been criticised at times for becoming 'too soft', but there's no place in the game for pure brutality and that's precisely what happens when footballers take it upon themselves to get revenge on an opponent...

10. Zlatan Ibrahimovic V Tyrone Mings

The Swedish striker may be a self-proclaimed God, but it doesn't mean he's above the law.

The talismanic striker shone for Manchester United as he dazzled in yet another of Europe's top divisions, but his ugly encounter with Bournemouth's Tyrone Mings saw him banished to the sidelines for three matches.

And Zlatan isn't convincing anyone with his claims that Mings 'jumped into my elbow'. It's clear that no matter how much he denies it, it was very much a case of seeking retribution following the defender's earlier stamp.

Great player he may be, but let's keep the elbows for the Octagon.
