10 Candidates For BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2012

5. Sir Chris Hoy (Cycling)

He is the most successful British Olympian ever, period. Like a locomotive, the unstoppable Scot won his 5th and 6th gold medals at this summer€™s Olympics to usurp Sir Steve Redgrave in the medals table with a staggering 7 in all. And at the ripe old age of 36 his desire to win has never diminished. The perfect swansong for the ultimate professional. He has probably done more for British cycling than anyone alive today. Aside from cementing his name in history Hoy played a very big part in why the Velodrome was the most successful venue for team GB at the Games.

I protect the ones I love by putting my full name on every article. My superpower is the ability to tell people about sports (football), games, movies, TV and general geekery even if they want to hear it or not.
