10 Darkest Spurs Moments Of The Premier League Era
2. Fabrice Muamba Collapses
In March 2012, during a televised FA Cup match between Spurs and Bolton Wanderers, Bolton player Fabrice Muamba suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch at White Hart Lane. It's a day Spurs fans, Bolton fans and indeed all football fans would like to forget, as Muamba had essentially died on the pitch - his heart having stopped for a massive 78 minutes. The match was obviously abandoned as players and fans alike looked in shock and with concern, but the good work of the Spurs medical staff and a heart doctor who happened to be in the Spurs crowd meant Muamba miraculously survived without any major lasting damage. He did, of course, retire from football on the advice of doctors, and it was indeed a dark day in the history of both Spurs and Bolton, but the fact that he's alive is great and he has since visited White Hart Lane, where he was warmly welcomed by fans.
