10 Exciting Prospects For The England National Team

1. Raheem Sterling

John Walton/EMPICS SportJohn Walton/EMPICS Sport19 year old Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling had such a good season last year that he was selected for the England squad to go to Brazil for the World Cup. He was a late inclusion that came as a surprise to many, but on the big stage he provided real excitement. After his particularly energetic and swashbuckling performance in the opening game against Italy, pundits were clamoring to shower him in praise. Unfortunately for Raheem - and the rest of the England squad - things went downhill from there. He played a limited role in the second game and was substituted for Ross Barkley. He must continue to improve his end product as at times his final ball and finishing leave a lot to be desired. Having said that, at least he brought some genuine spark to a side that didn't have enough to navigate a tough group. Raheem certainly has a lot of tools to work, but he must continue to learn under the watchful eye of Brendan Rodgers. If he is to become a top player and a key man for England, Sterling must build on his sometimes outrageous endeavor and become a more well rounded, intelligent attacker. That comes with age and experience, something you only really get if you play a lot of games. He has the perfect coach and the perfect club to move forward. The whole nation will be closely observing his exploits for Liverpool this season and hoping that he can make a real mark during the upcoming qualification campaign.
