2. Ross Barkley
Mike Egerton/PA Archive/Press Association ImagesRoss Barkley is a player that the future of England should be built around. He had an excellent season with Everton last year and always looks a threat in almost every game he plays. He is a powerful runner with pace and directness, and has the ability to produce the spectacular. The 20 year old seems to have that special something that gets people out of their seats. He was described by his manager Roberto Martinez as a mix of Paul Gascoigne and Michael Ballack. That is high praise indeed and will take a lot of living up to. He does seem capable of doing that. Even during England's latest ill-fated World Cup campaign, Barkley was a bright spark who made the nation believe whenever he got hold of the ball. He only got half an hour in each of the games against Italy and Uruguay, much to the dismay of many England fans. He was afforded the full 90 minutes against Costa Rica, but that was a dead rubber and hardly the perfect circumstance for him to shine. Despite his youth, Barkley has really burst onto the scene over the past year and is now playing regularly for Everton. As we approach the new Premier League season and the qualification campaign for Euro 2016, he is definitely one to keep an eye on.
