10 Excruciatingly Awkward UFC Post Fight Interviews

9. Valentina Shevchenko And Amanda Nunes Have An Argument

It has to be said that it can't be easy to have a war of words in a second language. It can be tough enough to have an engaging exchange in your first language, as some fighters have proven in the past. Some of the verbal jousting between Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz back in the day was head spinning. But that doesn't take away from how terrible the verbal sparring between Valentina Shevchenko and Amanda Nunes was back in January.

After defeating Julianna Pena in January, Shevchenko knew she was almost certainly getting her first title fight. Bantamweight champion Nunes entered the cage, quite cordially, before it all went down.

After a pleasant handshake, Shevchenko said she was going to take the belt, and they were off to the races. Brian Stann was the man in the middle with the microphone trying very hard not to laugh as the girls went at it.

After Shevchenko said that Nunes should "be careful with your words because every time it will come back to you" Nunes replied with "I am the champion because I say I'm the champion" which is not really how it works.

Shevchenko would stand back, laugh uproariously and applaud. Fair play to these tough as nails bantamweights for getting the build started for their eventual UFC 213 rematch six months early, but this was an inauspicious start.
