10 Most Eye-Catching European Summer Signings

1. Michy Batshuayi - Marseille

Unpredictability has appeared to be the order of the summer for Olympique Marseille, not least down to their signing of Standard Liege forward Michy Batshuayi. The madly brilliant tactician Marcelo Bielsa has stepped into the long-vacant managerial role, with the intense demands of the Spanish coach taking a while to translate into on-field results. For a fee of around £5 million, Marseille drafted in the Belgian Pro League's second-top goalscorer of last season, as Batshuayi fired his way to an impressive 21 league goals at the tender age of 20. Also winning the division's Ebony Shoe award in the process, the future looks bright for the Belgian talent. Whether he turns up to games is debatable, as the former Liege striker is known to be rather sporadic with his form, but Bielsa definitely has a fantastic youth prospect on his hands as he attempts to re-shape Marseille and steer the French giants back towards the Champions League. Two explosive personalities being involved, however, could end in fireworks.
