8. Gareth Bale & Cristiano Ronaldo

"Hatred" is perhaps a strong word for Cristiano Ronaldo's relationship with Gareth Bale, but there's plenty of evidence to suggest that the two Galacticos aren't exactly best buddies. Discontent started simmering in 2014/15. Ronaldo would often show his frustration at Bale choosing to shoot rather than pass to him, with the most notable example coming in a January 2015 game against Espanyol, when Ronaldo's demonstrative rage left Bale facing whistles from the crowd.

Ronaldo was the only Real player to not embrace the Welshman when he scored in the 2014 Champions League final, and Bale's agent blundered into the argument in October 2015, telling Radio Marca that the duo didn't get along.

A humiliated Bale was forced to apologise to Ronaldo after this incident, but the minor on-pitch spats have continued, and in September 2016, a video showing the Portuguese lunging into Bale during training surfaced. The duo have continually asserted that they're on good terms, but there's little evidence to support this, and their body language and interactions suggest otherwise. Regardless, they often form a fearsome duo when playing together, despite their apparent distaste for one another.
