Football supporters are like elephants - they never forget. Michael Carricks career will be defined by his time at Old Trafford, having spent the last eight years in Manchester, but West Ham supporters will remember how their talented midfielder jumped ship to bitter rivals Spurs as they languished in the First Division. Or so the media would have you believe. Its a peculiar thing, but unlike Jermain Defoe, Nigel Reo-Coker, Craig Bellamy and Frank Lampard, who were regularly bashed and abused on their returns to Upton Park, Carrick is one of a minority who receives a warm welcome every time. One would have assumed that West Ham supporters would have lambasted the Geordie for jumping ship as they lay rooted in the mire of the First Division, but apparently not. Its nearly eleven years since he left the club, but the Manchester United midfielder could certainly still do a fine job for the Hammers. Despite his 33 years, he will always possess that eye for a pass, and the impeccable ability to pull one off. The English international is a superb technician and is a key component of Manchester Uniteds success over the years - Alex Song alongside Carrick would make for a mouth-watering midfield duo.
