The 42-year-old current manager of Fleetwood Town is probably the least glamorous name on this list, with his most famous days coming at both Preston and Burnley, where he became the oldest player to make a Premier League debut, at the age of 37. He is also the fourth oldest scorer in Premier League history. In 40 appearances for Scotland, Alexander scored no goals, but it was at club level where the right-back made the greatest score-sheet impact. In over a thousand career appearances he scored 129 goals, which is practically unheard of for a player in his position. Three times in his league career did he breach double figures, and each time at a different club - Luton, Preston and Burnley being the lucky trio. A big part of his goal-scoring prowess was down to his deadly ability from the penalty spot, but that should not take away from a player who made the absolute most of his ability, and will always have a place in discussions like this. His unusual penalty style - outside of the foot - made him a lower league sensation.
